Have you ever wondered why chocolate chip cookies can be chewy, crisp, soft, flat, thick, cakey, greasy, bland, flavorful, moist, or crumbly? I know I have struggled with finding the reasons why my chocolate chip cookies never turn out like the recipe photos or like the cookies we love from our favorite bakery!
So, I was so excited to see this tutorial today! Tessa, over at Handle the Heat, shows how to create the perfect chocolate chip cookie in The Ultimate Guide to Chocolate Chip Cookies (the Pinterest button was a little hard to find, but you can “rePIN” this here). With a little ingredient modification, you can create so many different variations of the same cookie! I love a thicker, softer chocolate chip cookie with a crispy outside, so I am going to try adding more flour and chilling the dough for 24 hours next time around.
And if you really want to dig deeper into ‘cookie chemistry’ and see the results, check out the Ultimate Cookie Troubleshooting Guide (you can “rePIN” this here). Tessa covers everything from ingredient modifications to measuring to baking temps and storing! What a fabulous resource!
But, before you get elbow deep in cookie batter, be sure to check your ingredients with the tips in this post.
