Here is today’s Totally Random Question of the Day:
When did your kiddos stop drinking cow’s milk (whole, 2%, whatever) completely?
I can remember having to buy 2 gallons a week at Costco just for The Boy to drink (and an occasional extra half-gallon for cooking or whatnot) and never being sure we would have enough for the week! And the sting when the price of a gallon of milk was higher than a gallon of gasoline!
Starting at around age 5, he cut back to just a very small glass or 2 per day, and now, at age 7, he won’t go anywhere near the stuff – won’t even do an “is this milk still good” taste test for me! He’ll maybe have the occasional cup of hot chocolate, but that’s about it as far as drinking the stuff. He’ll eat ice cream if it’s offered, but will turn his nose at butter and cheese! Weird.
I can remember as a child not drinking milk anymore after age 4, but still enjoying other dairy items. I did develop a lactose intolerance at 19 though and have been dairy-free most of my adult life.
So tell me! Are your kiddos still daily milk drinkers?
