Here is today’s Totally Random Question of the Day:
The weather where we live in Southern California is generally pretty nice (from what we have experienced so far) but we have finally hit winter. It has been cold, windy, foggy, rainy, and just plain dreary outside the past week or so and it is only expected to get worse. While we are extremely appreciative of all the wet weather (CA is still in a severe drought), I am starting to go a little bonkers being cooped up indoors. Many of the streets in our town have been flooded or congested with accidents (if you ever thought SoCal drivers were nuts on a good day, you do not want any of that in a rain storm!) but we did manage a trip to Winco for a little grocery shopping yesterday morning. And while it felt great being “out” I started to feel like I was just throwing random items in the cart just enjoying being “out”! Ha!
What I wanna know is……How in the world do you maintain your sanity when the weather is funky? Get a pedi? Go for coffee? Dig into a favorite book? And how do you keep the kiddos from climbing the walls?

I have 2 young ones — ages 2 & 4. When the weather is funky, they love to craft! I try to come up with creative things since outdoors is off limits with weather sometimes! Last month their favorite craft that kept them busy was “wrapping” – I gave them scraps of paper, tape and scissors and they wrapped toys for their babies! The other thing I do is bring their plastic eating table indoors (cleaned up!) and just have it set up with different stuff weekly. We did playdough, stamps, markers, beads, etc. done crafts they last for days, others for maybe ten minutes! I just try to be excited when I present it! Can’t wait to get back outdoors!!

I have been scouring the dollar stores and the Christmas clearance for some fun new crafting items and then tucking them away so my son will be surprised to see it all on a rainy or freezing cold day!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment Katie! ♥
