Did you know National Donut Day began in 1938 as a way for the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I? The “Doughnut Lassies” are also credited with popularizing the doughnut in the United States when the troops returned home from war. Pretty cool! And is it DONUTS or DOUGHNUTS?!
Donut Day is traditionally held on the first Friday of June and many national franchises offer freebies! Be sure to also check in at your local shops to see if they are participating!
- Krispy Kreme will be giving away free doughnuts Friday, June 3rd! No purchase necessary!
