(UPDATE: Darn, it looks like Google has now closed down the Camp Google website! If a new camp is launched this summer, I will post the details as soon as they’re available!)
If you’re looking for some fun educational activities to do with the kiddos, this is a great one! Google has partnered with National Geographic, the National Park Service, and Khan Academy to bring you Camp Google!
Camp Google is a free online summer camp that gets kids outside learning through fun, interactive science activities and adventures! Led by experts, the activities have been designed to encourage kids to ask questions, setting them on a lifelong journey of exploration and discovery.
Camp Google is geared toward kids age 7–10, but with proper supervision and guidance, kids of all ages can enjoy the activities. There is no registration or fee required, and you don’t need a Google account to participate.
Each week kicks off with an awesome new adventure that’ll take kids to exciting new places. Afterwards, kids get to continue exploring with fun science activities led by experts. Everyone’s invited, and you can do the activities whenever you like!
The weekly schedule of activities is as follows:
- Ocean Week
- Space Week
- Nature Week
- Music Week
If you will miss a week due to vacation or whatnot, don’t worry! All of the camp activities will remain open so you can always come back and pick up where you left off, or revisit favorite activities! Note that the activities will require some supplies you may or may not have readily on hand around the house. You can check out the full Supply List and prepare for the activity ahead of time.
Kids can even earn cool badges for every activity completed and then track their progress with the Badge Tracker!
This is such a cool “summer camp” and it makes a great resource to add to our homeschooling science curriculum! We are really enjoying going through the activities together!
And, don’t forget to check out these other fun and free summer activities for the kiddos:
- Free Summer Reading Programs
- Free Summer Bowling
- Free Summer Roller Skating
- Regal Cinema’s Summer Movie Express
- Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse

So is this real? I cannot find any actual info about Camp Google other than several blogs that have posted this same information. Links do not take you to anywhere but a Google search page.

Hi Evonne! Yes, Camp Google was launched in the summer of 2015 and, at the publishing of this post, it was still active. However, in doing a little searching now it looks like Google has pulled the plug on the Camp Google website. They may launch the camp again this summer with a new theme, and if so, this post will be updated to reflect that. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

I’m so disappointed that there is no link to a statement by Google with the cancellation information. I’ve spent time talking it up at my house and getting my son excited only to crash and burn and not even know it.
I hope they relaunch it or at least reactivate the activities from last year.
Thank you for providing the news here.

Yes, my son was very disappointed too. Here’s to hoping for a new camp or access to last year’s! =)
